Eagle Scout of the Year Scholarship
Annual awards for Boy Scouts, Varsity Scout Team, and/or Venturing Crew members who have achieved the status of Eagle Scout. Applicant's troop, team, or crew must be chartered to an American Legion Post or Auxiliary Unit. Eligible candidates must be the son or grandson of a Legionnaire or Auxiliary member, nominated by local post, be a minimum of 15 years of age, enrolled in high school, be an active member of their religious institution, received the religious boy scout emblem, and demonstrate practical citizenship in church, school, scouting, and community. Submit high school transcript, scouting record, career interests, and recommendation or testimony letters with application packet. Applicant's local post must submit application by March 1st to the Department (State) Headquarters. The Department Headquarters must forward application to the National Headquarters by April 2nd. One first place award in the amount of $10,000 (payable over 4 years) and 3 second place awards of $2,500 will be given.
