Finding a Scholarship — NextStudent Makes it Simple

There are many sources for a college scholarship and other money for school. Most students (and parents) fail to exhaust all the options available to them. NextStudent can quickly guide you to the best sources of a college scholarship and other “free money” and low cost educational loans.

College Scholarships – The NextStudent Scholarship Search Engine

This valuable Scholarship Search tool allows you to search our online database of more than 42,000 college funding sources comprised of more than 2.4 million individually awarded college scholarships valued at over $3.4 billion. Using the NextStudent database to find money for college is fast, completely private, and totally free of charge.

Simply enter your (or your student's) personal and academic information, and the NextStudent Scholarship Search Engine will select those awards that match your profile. It also provides, for each scholarship, the funding source's eligibility requirements, due dates, number of awards, award amounts, and contact information.

Tips to Finding a Scholarship

  • Search diligently and come back often. Scholarship change and new ones are added.
  • "What if…" your search. For example, a student may have an SAT score of 1100 right now, but "what if" he/she retested and scored higher? You may find a scholarship that you could have overlooked before.
  • Don't limit yourself to one academic major. Select multiple majors to see what's available.
  • Or better yet, select "No Academic Major" to see the college scholarships and financial aid awards available to students regardless of their field of study. Some scholarship awards are based simply upon the student's desire to attend college, with no consideration for the student 's intended major.
  • Visit your school's guidance office, the public library and college Financial Aid Offices to look for small, local awards that aren’t posted on search engines or in books on scholarship awards.

A Scholarship Isn't the Only Free Money for School!

Beyond college scholarship awards, there are educational grants, work-study programs and very low-cost educational loans that parents and students can qualify for.

If you haven’t yet been awarded enough scholarship awards or grants to cover your college expenses, student loans and parent loans (PLUS loans) are the most common way to make up the difference. Learn more about a variety of student loans and Parent PLUS Loans from NextStudent.
