One in four have paid at least one late fee.

re: 5 Rules to Help Your Kids Avoid the College Credit Card Trap

I really like this article.

As a recent graduate who just graduated from school in may 2008 I was told from Day 1...during my freshmen year in high school...be responsible...We will not bail you out...and if your FICO score sucks the rest of your life will suck.

Since then I have three main credit cards that I use and pay them off at the end of each month...while i have amassed a big enough limit to pretty much buy anything that I want I don't over spend what I can't pay back...and know because of this it will continually improve my FICO score which is so important.

I think what causes these credit card problems in college is LACK OF EDUCATION ABOUT THEM. Why don't we have Financial Literacy and Education 101 as a college class...but still have philosophy classes pondering on the question "What is the meaning of life?"

Anyway great article and great tips. As a parent empower your kids to take responsibility, you will thank yourself in the long run!

re: 5 Rules to Help Your Kids Avoid the College Credit Card Trap

Timely article for back to school. Amazing, I've been noticing banks advertising to high school kids. As a parent I'm torn between my desire to protect my kids from predators and my desire to help teach my kids these important life lessons before they leave the nest.

Parents : Your Debt-Ridden Kids: 3 Steps to Help Them Kick Their Bad Spending Habits for Good

PingBack from http://www.nextstudent.com/NextPath/NextPath-Online/blogs/parents/archive/2008/07/27/3-steps-to-help-your-kids-kick-their-bad-spending-habits-for-good.aspx
